when you hear "onchain" do you think

1) literally on the blockchain
2) generally something to do with web3/crypto

1, but even that’s a misnomer since most people that say onchain refer to NFTs which store data off chain

Same and I am usually irritated at nfts for that reason

i think the confusion is between doing 

a task on chain (minting an NFT on chain i.e doing a tx on chain with your own wallet and getting the nft into your wallet)

and an on chain NFT, which is entirely on-chain

i feel like both are correct but different
