Interesting to think about why projects like @drakula launch on a pre-existing but relatively new token like $DEGEN, versus rolling their own token or just launching using straight ETH $DEGEN: - ride the wave / traction / visibility - attract degen crowd Own token: - complexity w/ tokenomics - harder to bootstrap ??

I mean Drakula did the “por que no los dos” strategy and has $BLOOD It’s just not been as successful as using $DEGEN

Yup. Analogy is L2s with their own tokens vs. without. If Base did it without a new token, it begs the question if a native token was really needed and its actual network utility. Btw I thought Blood is their points system.

Launching your own token for your project is like launching a streetwear brand instead of just printing merch

I think we’ll always see a native incentive from app. Building atop $DEGEN is purely to get people in, the GTM. Airstack doing it with STACKS, Drakula - Blood, Perl - Perls

Don't forget points. I posed this question recently and each of the three options have their pros/cons highlighted by cold start and longevity.

I will say because Degen is the token of Base currently! He's trying to fight TikTok... he can focus on that instead of fighting everyone at once
