Considering there's a competitive Excel circuit, I think this would be a no-brainer. Logistically, I wonder how you would execute this, like a 48-hour feed of the hackathon with cameras and access to everything for the entire event. That just comes down to editing. Reality tv creates a narrative out of the video they get. Is that what you mean? Or do you imagine watching me freak and swear as nothing works until the last minute would be entertaining?

Theory: We are almost there with generative code. The visual of sweaty programmers and terminals wasn’t it, but now that you can code a visual artifact in 10 seconds there’s something viewers may like. We probably need something closer to 1-2 seconds.

Yes. It was so close a decade ago with stuff like Major League Hacking. I really enjoyed that period of hackathons. I made $20k+ from hackathons one summer, quit my job, started a company, and never looked back.
