The practice of bridging between protocols today is absurd. The user friction is comparably frustrating to getting booted from the internet in 1997 when my home phone rang. Something has to change for mainstream adoption to occur. Who here is going to fix this?

I think long-term this will be mostly hidden away and users might end up with chain providers similar to phone carriers, or even better just pay reasonable fees for cross-chain settlement. In tradfi you have all sorts of settlement providers taking small pieces of txs to float capital to make user spending seamless.

It's getting better, at least from my experience. What I noticed: bridging between L2s works like a dream, otherwise on L1 to L2.

What bridges or bridge aggregators have you used? There’s a few good options but the overall process is still pretty absurd Wormhole across.to rango.exchange bungee.exchange mayan.finance

good luck, I doubt there's a way to do better. Name one cross-protocol experience that's as good or better than a native experience

It took me 25 minutes to figure out how to bridge ETH to Base. 3 ways that were supposed to work just flatly didn’t. The UX in crypto is definitely holding back adoption.

I’ve used this exact example dozens of times when talking about crypto UX. The most important thing to remember is that we *did* get past dialup, even when there was no immediate solution in sight As long as theres an incentive, builders gonna build

Even more so, just having different sites connected to different chains (L2s) is a huge pain. I switch tabs in my browser and immediately the site complains and wants me to change network and then I switch back and the same dance in the other direction etc.

Check out @axelar-network’s Interchain Token Service (ITS): https://axelar.network/interchaintokens I don’t fully understand the tech (yet) but I believe it is a step towards solving this

Industry collaboration, improved standards, cross-platform solutions, user-centric design, and education can address this issue and drive mainstream adoption.

There is fantastic “bridging” through usdc. See cctp.money And IBC is seamless and protocols such as stride even open accounts on other chains within transactions without you knowing
