Web2 gave us domains that make IP addresses human-readable. Web3 gave us domains that make wallet addresses human-readable. 3DNS combines both into one domain.

Apple’s monopoly on payments is finally over. Epic won, didn’t think I’d see the day. You can now use @slice for in-app payments. Just as planned. https://x.com/timsweeneyepic/status/1917706848251134055

Uniswap v4 feels like crypto's first complete product. Uniswap v3 was already nearly there, which is one reason why while previous versions took ~1 year, v4 took 4 years. I can see additional functionality (e.g. unified liquidity) and responding to infra changes (e.g. quantum-resistant zkVMs) that will justify a v5, but the core purpose of this application now feels complete for the foreseeable future. What's remaining is now on the governance & social end. Aave v4 is the next candidate for a complete product. Interestingly, the applications are hitting final form years ahead of the infra they're built on, and in cases like Aave v4, being intertwined with infra itself. (Side-note: of course, simple "products" like memecoins or USDT are "complete")

1/3 🗳️ Introducing DAVINCI: the L2 zk-rollup for voting that fixes the flaws of both onchain and traditional systems. 🎉 We’ve raised $1M to build a voting protocol unlike any before: Censorship-resistant, gasless, anonymous, anti-coercion, and massively scalable, secured by cryptography and Ethereum security. Since 2018, our L1 blockchain has powered hundreds of elections for political parties, local governments, associations, and DAOs. But technology evolves and today, breakthroughs in cryptography allow us to go far beyond what was previously possible. That's why today we're building DAVINCI, a zk-SNARK–powered state machine, run by a decentralized network of offchain Sequencers with token incentivization. Read the announcement and join the whitelist to get some perks! 📖 https://blog.vocdoni.io/davinci-universal-voting-protocol

I actually think the growth of app layer is exactly the time that good social philosophy is needed *most*. Analogy: imagine that C++ had been made by a totalitarian racist fascist. Would it be a worse language? Probably not. C++ is general purpose, there isn't much surface for bad social philosophy to wreck it (or good social philosophy to improve it). Ethereum L1 is not quite in that position: someone who doesn't believe in decentralization would not add light clients, or FOCIL, or (good forms of) account abstraction; someone who doesn't mind energy waste would not spend half a decade moving to PoS... But the EVM opcodes might have been roughly the same either way. So Ethereum is perhaps 50% general-purpose. Apps are ~80% special purpose. What apps you build depends heavily on what ideas you have of what ethereum apps (and ethereum as a whole) are there to do for the world. And so having good ideas on this topic out there becomes crucially important. https://x.com/owocki/status/1911160442728419681
