Crypto has finally crossed a chasm. It’s so easy to set up Phantom Wallet to receive USDC-SOL that kids can use it to instantly accept payments at their lemonade stand. There are still some quirks like requiring SOL to send. But this is >10000X faster than incorporating to get a bank account. Seconds, not days.

In a decade we went from just Bitcoin to millions of different unique assets. Your vector of unique assets is itself a form of “digital signature.” You are what you hold.

Farcaster is crypto-first Twitter. Airchat is AI-first Twitter. X is Elon-first Twitter.

I disagree but have an alternative proposal. First, there is already an abundance of hate from outside tech. Elon gets attacked for launching rockets. You will too. However, I get the rationale within crypto. Still, what we want is more like star ratings and reviews of projects. Namely, decentralized regulation.

From fully automated luxury communism to fully automated laissez-faire journalism. Here’s what we want next. First, make it look exactly like NYT. They publish your info without consent, so parodic turnabout is fair play. Second, allow anyone to paste in casts to generate an article. You are the reporter now.

The future is now. We can turn Farcaster into the ledger of record. Namely: a censorship-resistant feed of cryptographically signed assertions that we can digest into news with open source AI. See this talk from 2020. I think it holds up well. And every piece is now technically feasible. https://archive.is/0w3LB

THE ROBO JOURNO How to win the $6000 bounty that @fehrsam and I funded to build an AI NYT? Your submission should be as good as GPT Times. It had a nice frontend and an open backend. It’s now $6000 for the best AI NYT! Thanks to @fehrsam and @plante.eth. Just imagine the dream project. Earn crypto, build robo, beat journo. You don’t have to imagine it. It’s here.

THE ROBO JOURNO 🤖✍️ Farcaster is open. So you can download every cast. And organize them by date. Or by channel, or by person. And generate an AI NYT. An automated summary of the feed. With a model that reflects your values. We need this. So: I’m putting up a $1000 bounty to do it. Reply with your submission!

The decentralized version is more valuable. Bitcoin is worth $1T and PayPal is worth $64B. Ethereum is worth $400B and Stripe is worth $65B. So, if Farcaster really takes off as a protocol, and it’s getting there, it could be even more valuable than existing social media companies.

I am excited about Farcaster frames and everything @dwr.eth and @v have built. I’ve wanted programmable decentralized social media forever. And I have several posts I want to put up and apps I want to put out. But…I’m just pinned down for a while finishing the 2nd edition of The Network State. So, more soon!

Yes. Virtue is good because it’s decentralized self-control. The more virtuous the society, the more self-disciplined, the less need for centralized law enforcement, rules, and punishment in general. Virtue is why we can have nice things.
