A personal contradiction -- I work in frontier tech (crypto), yet I am skeptical of and slow to adopt most nascent technology It's like the opposite of Gell-Mann Amnesia, where my distrust in one realm (because I know what a shitshow crypto and software in general are) extends to other industries, especially "health" tech

would you say that you personally nail the health basics anyway? Healthy weight Good diet Good sleep Regular exercise both cardio and strength? Etc? Outside of the quantified self (self monitoring, bloodwork etc), which I view as a tool to help with adherence to above healthy habits, I don’t believe anyone who hasn’t nailed the above needs to be doing much more Deal in dollars not cents BUT This is MY belief I think it’s hubristic to say all health tech has 0 value, or deny smth just because it didn’t work for you I respect everyone right to make best choices for themselves And I am grateful for technological advances in pharma etc Medicine has been around a lot longer than computers or crypto

Knowing some of the other thoughts you put out (the value of localism for example), maybe you are just naturally more receptive to the value of crypto.

yes. same. crypto is already technologically “complete” in that blockchains are proven to work publicly in situ, low/no execution risk, clear advantages over alternatives, etc. and yet i dread updating iOS and all other manners of stupid ass tech
