Do you carry water/fuel while running? If so, do you prefer a hydration vest/backpack or a handheld bottle?

If it’s longer than 13 miles I wear a vest from REI. It’s pretty good! Would probably invest a little more in a Solomon vest next time Less than 13 I’m usually just bringing gels in a lil belt pouch and stopping at a water fountain.

I pretty much never use water on outdoor training runs (up to 3 hours), but it never gets too hot here. If it were excessively hot and humid, I would consider it. But I don't think people need water as much as they think, as long as the effort level isn't too difficult and heat isn't too extreme

I can’t tolerate anything in my hands or hydration vest. I usually run on routes I know are will served by fountains. I usually drink once if > 20 km. I carry gels in the pockets for long runs.

Lots of factors to take into account. 1. Is it race conditions and do they provide water stations? 2. How hot / humid is it? 3. How long am I running for? If it’s greater then 90 min then yes I would carry water
