I've been experiencing a dull pain in my foot, above the arch, whenever I run more than 6 miles. I took some time off after my 50K, and the pain completely went away. Unfortunately, after some heavy downhill runs, the pain returned this weekend. I'm thinking I need to take a couple of weeks off and stick to spin bike to maintain fitness.

How long do you usually take to recover after a big race? I just completed my first 50k and took a week off, spending a lot of time with my foam roller. I'm not sure if I'm feeling beat up from the race or from taking a week off.
