Basically the series of mini quests / towns, it was a storyline of challenges leading to levelling up if that makes sense :)

okémon is sacred. It teaches you patience, if you are grinding for experience. It teaches you problem solving skills , with all the plot twists in the game. It teaches you money handling, because you need to have the basic knowledge of money , even if it is just digital.

As a kid it taught me that everyone has strengths and weaknesses I loved Squirtle and he was boss against fire but not so much grass or electric Also I used the missingno glitch to multiply my master ball - so maybe I learned that rules can be broken - not sure if that was a good lesson

The shiny elements added from the gold and silver versions are interesting ✨ When I get something with a low probability of success, I get a rush of brain juice and it feels good and fun.

For me its social, trading, day and night system, the expansion of Pokémon Contests into "Super Contests," and the new Sinnoh region, with an underground area dedicated to multiplayer gameplay.

My daughter loves Pokemon and watches all the cartoons. She plays the games because there are Pokemon that appear only in the games that do not appear in the anime!

For me I guess it was the first sort of competitive gaming before we ever had massive online gaming. I wanted to beat that bastard Gary so badly in Fire Red lol. An of course the gym leaders and Pokémon league. Had to not only build a team of Pokémon but also strategize how to counter theirs.

It’s really great for feeling the warm fuzzies. The world is just so cheerful, and being able to tame and befriend a dizzying array of powerful beasts is a very heartwarming power fantasy.

The first Pokemon I ever played was Red. I was in elementary school at the time, and the reason I played so eagerly was that the visuals of the monsters I raised changed, in addition to simply raising their levels. The concept of collecting monsters to complete a picture book was also innovative.

Addictive Progression. Gyms -> Badges, Pokemon->PokeDex, Pokeballs-> Masterballs, Items->Rares, Normal Pokemon->Shinys, TMs as well you'd want to use early on but couldn't, then had to come back to. It was quite linear overall, but they balanced in such a way you'd never really think about it like that, as kid anyway.
