20 minutes and 3 rabbitholes later, i have finally looked up the definition of "cockade", which was the only thing I picked my phone up for. Pretty sure it's worse than the doorway effect :)

There's a steady trickle of housecat-chases-off-bear videos/articles. No clue how often that aggression works--I guess your average person probably wouldn't post the equivalent vid of a bear eating their brave cat... Coyotes might also be reacting from familiarity with one or more wild cat species?

Getting around to some graphic novels over the break. Digging Black Hole by Charles Burns. May finish in a sitting.

Feel like the quality of my thought is directly related to the environment and network Iโ€™m in and itโ€™s been strange seeing the ramifications of that as social media Balkanization basically lobbed off certain areas and heterogeneity of most networks

I want a protocol for exiting trade secrets into public goods. You can think of it as the pharma funding problem, but it's much broader than that. I think it's important. I've found myself with incentive to keep trade secrets (competitive advantage, stay afloat), when all I *really* want to do is contribute.

If you don't have a resident Nix-er, I'd explore via higher-level projects focused on this case: floxdev.com, devenv.sh, github.com/nickel-lang/organist, jetpack.io/devbox/. Unfortunately haven't used these yet so I can't narrow. The organist README briefly compares all of these.

I haven't needed to do too much secrets stuff, but Nix can help standardize the environment. Most of our secret cases so far have been things that we can readily generate/rotate or mirror from prod via CLI. I think most people are using agenix or sops-nix for this bit.

I've had this vague interest in exploring what's in the shadows cast by ~conspicuously under-examined ideas, and the concept of the "best" looms large there.

Feel this, though our numbers are generally better outside of a few months in winter when we rarely run hvac. I want to sleep with the doors open to keep CO2 down, but partner needs the doors closed for light.

What kind of product and stack? Can you give a couple example of the envs you need to sync?

I think some of my trouble stems from thinking very abstractly and lingually and not visually. I can't even imagine where to start figuring out when I have enough ~coverage to stitch together, if that makes sense.

I tried this one time in a screencasty format and holy shit did it take a lot of effort. I think my fatal mistake was assuming it'd be easier to just get a clean take than to learn enough video editing to fake it? I needed to script it to stay on track, but then it took like 20 tries to get the clean take.
