Tl;dr I want high level ergonomic tools for one liners in a command prompt, but want access to a rich library ecosystem when growing beyond a prompt into a dedicated script

Things like nushell or oil use new languages and therefore have a hard time leveraging existing libraries

I use fish as my login shell but don’t really do any shell scripting to leverage a more modern scripting language. I’d probably just use python or typescript for scripts and rust for cli applications

I even install it as default shell on my remote linux machines

I was using zsh for the longest time, however I recently started using fish. It’s has its quirks, but it’s way faster which makes it worth it for me. I don’t do a lot of shell scripting which probably helps.

Oils is a shell that supports bash like zsh does, but also has its own modern shell scripting language like fish. Best of both worlds:

I use zsh with oh-my-zsh and find it to be pretty good. Haven’t even heard of the last two! What are those?
