I think the advice “remain calm” is usually interpreted with a moral valence, i.e. large displays of emotion are not proper. It’s good advice outside of morality, because remaining calm on some level allows you to better understand the appropriate and decisive response, but *importantly* the response itself doesn’t necessarily need to appear calm.

I'm not sure how to approach the rest of the decade other than focusing on generating compassion for others and myself. Otherwise it becomes aggression and fear all the way down, contributing substantially to quaking ground and buzzing skies.

Next week, I'm planning to soft launch a new newsletter project on magic, memory, and technology, which will be more like a series of essays for a book. It's framed in a longer post, but some details are in the screenshot here. If you were to support the project, what would be the ideal way, in terms of subscription fees, donations in crypto, or otherwise?
