I actually like the storage model where everything is an account. Makes it pretty easy to pick up. Haven't written any programs yet though. 

The RPCs don't feel as robust. Using Helius, but calls are slower than on an EVM and have random failures from time to time so have to account for that.

Indexing is a huge pain because of the insane amount of transactions (good problem for the network). Took me about a week to build a token indexer that can even stay at head. Storage, and in turn costs, grow pretty quickly though.

Need to index myself because no good APIs available for consumer-oriented general-purpose token data. 

Before I even started the exploration, had so many EVM people telling me how much it sucks. And overall, it's honestly not bad at all. Most of the people talking negatively about Solana dev either (1) have never actually built anything there or (2) weren't around for EVM dev when it was the same age as Solana.

Posted some thoughts about building around Solana the other day. Only been a week, so I still have a lot to learn about the ecosystem

i am theorizing that there are three classes of products in crypto. 

1. real world crypto: upgrading existing systems, institutions, products to be internet native and crypto native. this is stuff like defi, stablecoins, rwas, payments, depin

2. new world crypto: new behaviors or systems created for the internet era. memecoins and daos and nfts and such. 

3. the plumbing and infra for both of the above

Seek out teams with solid products, or yappers who haven’t changed up given the rush to SOL exits 

No need to rush but build your positions before the crowd not when they’re piling in. Try to resist the overly optimistic or overly pessimistic extremes. Coins go up, coins go down, just back people and don’t over extend
