one of the biggest takeaways i have from yapster is similar to a big takeaway i had from polymarket. if the app and the consumer experience is compelling, no one cares what chain its on. spend more time building great consumer apps and less time fighting culture chain wars.

It's surprising that some folks still think they have the leverage in this job market. Maybe it's time they notice the countless "open to work" profiles and layoff announcements. I've witnessed people lose everything because they wouldn't budge on remote work or salary.

Hey Devon, which site do you recommend for purchasing the book? By the way, I'm clueless about the drama you're caught up in. I just appreciate some quality sci-fi and a bit of asteroid mining intrigue!

Everyone cheering for Canada to become the 51st US state should know that the single uniting piece of Canadian culture is ā€œnot Americanā€. It might sound tongue-in-cheek but itā€™s deeply entwined in our history. Itā€™s hilarious/sad that Canadians are like this but itā€™s one of the only things we all agree on. Iā€™d bet most Canadians would take a lower standard of living than capitulate to becoming American (with the possible exception of Albertans).

It is pretty clear that Bitcoin as a blockchain is a colossal waste of energy. As BTC custody continues centralizing to a few ETFs, CEXs, institutions, in the long term >50% of BTC will be held by a handful of organisations Might as well just cancel PoW and move to PoA at that point. It would actually be *more decentralized* as PoW will inevitably centralize over to a handful of industrial players and pools due to crippling economies of scale. Plus, it'll solve the security budget problem. As before, the full nodes will be there as the last line of defence irrespective The only thing matters for BTC is it remains a speculative store-of-value, doesn't matter the mechanism to achieve that https://x.com/i/trending/1885868663116296256

Startup Idea: Farcaster Payouts US companies want to make onchain payments but need to meet compliance requirements. We do our grants through Github because doing the 1099's ourself is a pain. - Take a list of fids and payment input onchain - Make payouts to fids and issue 1099s (use stripe connect payouts)

A year ago today, Read Write Own was released. So much has happened in crypto since then. The past year, I spent a lot of time traveling and speaking at eventsā€”some crypto-focused, some not. Even as crypto faced regulatory uncertainty in Washington and sustained criticism from mainstream media, I kept hearing something different from the people I met: passion and optimism. There was a clear gap between the narrative out there and what I was seeing on the ground. So, while Iā€™m excited to see the tides turn with growing bipartisan and institutional support, Iā€™m not entirely surprised. Crypto was never going away. At some point, the value of what blockchains enableā€”stablecoins, DeFi, AI systems, games, social experiences, and moreā€”had to be recognized. Weā€™re still far from the full vision I described in Read Write Own, but weā€™re moving forward. Huge thanks to all the founders, builders, and supporters who tuned out the noise and kept building. Onward.

Is this even real life? The economy's messed up, there's a flood of people coming in, crime's everywhere, we can't afford anything, housing's impossible, and food's a struggle.
