Social networks *will* die because of LLM invasion. Don't believe me? Ask anyone if they would prefer joining an  AI only vs human only social network. 

The only way to get around this is privacy preserving, provable digital humanity.

your cast is full of assumptions:

1. that people viewing AIs as friends are “pretending”

2. that (1) is “desperate”

3. that AI will be “used” to “replace real relationships”

so i ask you:

1. what if people aren’t pretending that they enjoy talking to AI? we’re already seeing this - so i’m curious why you think they’re “pretending”?

2. why is that desperate?

3. why do you assume AI is a replacement for relationships instead of something that could augment and improve them?

Idk about you but please god I hope I'm never desperate enough to pretend an AI is my friend and I hope that the knowledge that an AI can never actually care about someone in anyway prevents people from using them to replace real relationships. Dystopia awaits us otherwise.

both of your questions assume that AI is bad + can’t improve

and what does that mean to you? 

humans already produce loads of bullshit on a daily basis, and if we assume LLMs get smarter, it would make sense that the amount of bullshit they produce would decrease, not increase

in addition, the smarter they get, the more simply and easily they can parse bullshit - i can see us using them as a way to find signal in noise (which many of us are already doing)

remember: one of the main reasons humans bullshit other humans is because they're reacting emotionally to something that triggered them, and LLMs don't have emotions
