More people reading = net positive for society. Is there a protocol rewarding people for reading yet? Pay me to read, please.

When a friend's child got into first grade we realized how children are exposed to books within their respective households. And unfortunately a lot of children are not exposed to books at all. That made me think how we could possibly get more children to read. And I have no clue how to do that.

Great Q! I wasn’t super exposed, even though my Mom was an author. I think by letting kids read what they love (outside of academia), they’ll naturally read more?

We used to have summer book club with our local library. We would basically beg our parents to take us there because they had a section set up for kids in the library that felt like ours. There was also an inventive program for how many summer books we read and we read hard to get everything we could!
