More people reading = net positive for society. Is there a protocol rewarding people for reading yet? Pay me to read, please.

When a friend's child got into first grade we realized how children are exposed to books within their respective households. And unfortunately a lot of children are not exposed to books at all. That made me think how we could possibly get more children to read. And I have no clue how to do that.

Great Q! I wasn’t super exposed, even though my Mom was an author. I think by letting kids read what they love (outside of academia), they’ll naturally read more?

I think the crux that we discovered was this. Your parents make you grow up in a certain way, and what your parents are doing to you in that sense cannot easily be influenced, even if it would be better for your future. There would have to be some market dynamic that makes parents do the "right" thing.
