recently, I found an interesting parallel between playing tennis and running a business if you are down a game in tennis, nothing significant has happened — unless you let it affect your performance in the rest of the set you need to keep your head cool, and you will be fine similarly, a bad month doesn’t break your business — unless you get depressed and start looking for shortcuts it may seem obvious, but it’s not in the heat of the action

love it! here’s one more: you reset between shots in tennis. we forget to reset in business and try to lean in too much to eventually lose balance

great analogy - and - if someone breaks your serve, then you have to re-break theirs. In biz that's often falling behind targets in one quarter, so you have to recoup that in the next to meet your annual targets (if you have some)

it's all about tenacity... most of the heavy lifting is done in the dark when progress seems slow. But zooming out reveals that consistent effort matters, even when it doesn't feel that way.

In both cases, players/founders need to be extra focused and vigilant.

also the best tennis players only win 52-55% of all their shots - https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/big-3-win-only-around-54-55-of-all-points.728757/ so even the best players lose almost half of their shots; don’t let missed hits get in the way of progress
