gm, i've read 53 books in 2023 so far, will probably crush my record for number of books read in a year (i think it was ~50?) — aiming at 100 books this year

a lot, it's actually not that difficult to remember stuff from the books!

my way to do so is to:
1. consume a book
2. read a couple of summaries
3. write my own summary (yabc.bdut.ch)

as simple as that!

sometimes it happens, but very rarely (happened like 2-3 times tops) within a medium

i prefer to read multiple books in different mediums: i.e., listen to one book and read another

That’s so impressive. I’m a lifelong reader with serious ADHD. My pace is slow. I’m a lifelong reader but it’s never come easy

from what i found whether you take time or not doesn't matter

in the end the only knowledge you have is the database of "if i need X it's in the place Y", unless this knowledge is applicable right now

so no, i don't take time to reflect — it's enough to write down my summary of all the books i finish

1. atlas shrugged (forgot anything beyond the main plot points the first two times, the book isn't good to re-read though)
2. excellent advice for leaving (gonna re-read it multiple times, currently i'm at 1.5 mark)

i love hard sci-fi from fiction and non-fiction based on scientific research that can improve one's life :)

i don't think i ever applied anything from fiction to real-life, non-fiction has so much more applicable advice per 100 pages

i also find most fiction characters lacking depth as compared to irl people

i sometimes do different mediums in parallel — e.g., reading one book and listening to another, but that's the most i do!

do you read every page linearly or have some other strat? a friend of mine reads several books on a similar topic in parallel somehow 😵‍💫

Damn! Good for you! I can’t do this any more. The highlight of my life in book reading was when at 14 I finished entire children library in my hometown and I was allowed to move up to the adult one 2years ahead and begun reading shit that I shouldn’t have 🫣
