I voted yes because we're being sold on digital scarcity. An artist reposting it defeats the purpose entirely

I voted "no but changed slightly" , saw a really cool way of doing this from an artist on Twitter but can't remember who they were Their 1/1s were western/cowboy type scenes and their Rodeo pieces were matchbooks with illustrative versions of the piece on them, thought it was a clever and fun use of the platform, like a "trinket" or postcard version of the image

I haven’t voted. Because the should is the wrong way round. “What systems should we create around original work” Given that system currently. I think I’m the no camp. I think we need platforms that are creating meaningful context for work. No one who isn’t deep in nft culture has any context. I talk to irl artists who can’t wrap their head at all around what tokensisatoon means. I think for now each token represents an idea as @usersteen.eth says Going forward we probably need different standards and platforms that clarify the nature of what is being shared. The ownership implied. For now the best we have is artists who create and own their own contracts, and treat rodeo etc as low value

I voted no assuming that the audience is slightly different. Rodeo has minting for 24 hours. Zora also has some caps. You can always send little extra things to each holder based on the nft contract they hold

Usage rights are not stated on the contract. On your own contract, you can insert that if you want (or even add it to the description on objkt). So I think of them more like trading cards on Rodeo, collecting, exchanging. I only put ones that I didn't think I would mint on a different platform ever, anyway. I also decreased the resolution a bit too. But now people are suddenly making huge amounts of money from selling on there, so I feel it has changed. I never even thought of it as "selling" but rather trading as it stays in the wallet on the app and I used my proceeds to collect other people's work. But for sure, it's confusing.

I do think it’s ok to experiment w this on a platform like rodeo & one’s own contract.. maybe I feel it’s worth more minted on my own contract as a 1/1 vs multiples on Rodeo. Maybe I actually sign the 1/1 work and don’t sign the rodeo work. There’s room to play but I do think in an ideal world, it should all be as upfront as possible

I think it’s not as simple as yes or no. I think artists should be as upfront as possible in terms of what they’re selling to the collector. I think it’s problematic to open it back up if the expectation is that it won’t be. In this case, the platform itself has been selling itself on posts being up for 24 hours and thus the secondary market. In this case it seems to me that the platform spokesperson/founder has said a number of things that just aren’t really true & that’s problematic af. Personally in this case, I’m happy the artists are doing this w swapping out images & opening up mints again bc without it, we’d all be operating as if that’s all closed bc of how it’s been presented by the platform themselves when it’s obv not under the hood. In this case, the artists are doing all of us a favor. But in general I think the artist should set the expectations & stick to them, unless there’s a specific purpose like game play or whatever

I selected "no, but" Since these are still effectively minted posts, I wouldn't personally use the exact same image The approach I've used is to mint WIPs on Rodeo of images that I might later turn into a finished artwork through any number of processes, whether that's upscaling, editing/post processing, using as image input for AI animation tools, etc I've seen other artists use a similar approach It's also interesting to see the matchbook idea referenced in comments
