Request for comment: @clauswilke published recommended changes to tipping parameters. This sounds right to me, but I'd like everyone's feedback before I push it up the chain.

Here's an additional thought that may help make a decision: Run it as an experiment for a season. You can always change things back. There may be other problems that pop up under a different model and so further adjustments may be needed in the future and that's Ok.

I think it’s a great idea as long as the qualifying criteria for obtaining the uniform distribution is not based solely on cast freq or engament. Like idea that posting in smaller channels can up degen allocation — bound to see less engagement posting into those groups, but depth of discussions happen there.

I like the idea to give all power badge users the same amount, would definitely make it more sustainable but I think a shorter time frame would work best like 2-3 days maybe? One week feels like a loooong time in web3 😂

I think @clauswilke is correct, and the leveling of allowances will help to eliminate some of the farming by larger accounts, which is a major detractor for many who haven’t joined the WC community yet (and one that is hard to explain away). Remove the motivating factor and the enabling mechanism.

I think most people (barring a certain few in the top 25) would be on board with this. Whether or once a week, maybe twice a week or something would work? I wonder if once a week would lower engagement numbers on the platform overall. But hey, only one way to find out! 🫡 💜

Agree with the points that are being made. I don't have a habit of tipping for every good post that I come across. I'd take the proportion of casting vs degen-tipping into account when calculating the allocation.

all for both leveling + the week long shift. leveling removes rank + competition, it brings back fostering great content + participation. week long removes a level of unhealthy addiction + means ppl can take a day or two off here + there w/out feeling like their tips will be wasted or their allowance will be rekt.

I think there might be an underestimation of the farming behavior that will find a way to emerge even with this new proposal. There are other solutions to that. But I do agree that we need a way to compress the allocation range. Can't go from 68 of a fresh account to 1mil for the top 10.

Flatter curve would help w farming, and to level the playing field for new users who are coming in and providing a lot of value to the ecosystem but aren't able to push through to super high ranks. Weekly allos would be good, not feeling obligated to push out daily tips and having the whole pool available together.

I second the proposal Currently, the quantity of allowances that the caster has is more important than the quality of the cast, and the strategy of mutual tip-offs among peers has become more effective.

I believe it’s important for the team to ensure clarity with all users regarding the rules. Rules are essential for modern communities, much like channel norms. If giveaways are prohibited, everyone should be aware of it. Similarly, if tipping back is frowned upon, there should be a clear explanation. And so forth.

The longer path is more focused, concentrated in meaningful ways. I love that idea! So much of the hype and attention seeking tipping is based on the fast stressful pace. Let's make this change and improve this community!
