I know I've violated this once before (though I've also consciously chosen not to violate it several other times), but I like that there seems to be a soft norm against quoting twitter tweets on here. Keep the two universes separate.

tbh this feels like a surface-level take since it is the norm across all platforms not to link out to another. FC cares about high signal, thoughtful content + conversation. Some of that will originate here, some will be copy pastad from a tweet to a cast, and some will be linked or screenshotted from Twitter.

yes and if one must post a tweet, to screenshot it as to not require folks to visit the place

I think so long as you say something original, it's ok There is a similarly extensive prohibition (ie: not a full ban) of threads, also nudged by the UI

I’m definitely opening the two for very different reasons. Bird seems to have diminishing return value as of late

I have endless curiosity about this concept of soft norms, or culture, the mechanism that dictates human behavior. And how soft norms become hard rules when someone with influence or status says it out loud. Will we see even less QTs now that you raise it? What happens to these norms when farcaster opens up?

Definitely a soft norm. Though, I imagine it’s similar to sharing links on any platform. Best if not flooded with just bird app though.

Like this soft norm too. This place should have its own style.

Decentralisation means you cannot set such norms unless by virtue of culture. I’d like to see this space open and democratic for all.

Ha, these kinda norms do naturally emerge. Posting Facebook links on Instagram or Snapchat is an unconscionable faux-pas. Probably only topped by cross posting LinkedIn links there.

It seems to be an unpopular idea but I don't agree with this, if I am allowed to have a dissenting opinion. To me the content of the post is more important than where it comes from. Personally, I am not a fan of maximalist attitudes.
