I’ll do you one better. Sun rises at 6:30am for all time zones. Vast majority of clocks are digital now and can simply autocorrect at 3am each time zone.

This is the rarely-expressed exact opposite of DST abolition: literally do micro-DST every single day to keep local time adjusted to sunrise (though I would just do sunrise = 0:00). I actually... kinda respect it?

This works for me too!

First step is making UTC the unambiguous standard for scheduling online events and calls. No more of this "let's have a call at 17:30 PST / 04:30 your time" nonsense. Everyone only needs to remember one fact - how many hours ahead/behind of UTC they are - and it all works.

Then go from there.

The time resets to the start of the next day some time between ~23:55 and ~24:05 (<24:00 in Q1+Q2, >24:00 in Q3+Q4). This whole process is managed by computers. Realistically you would end up with more fine-grained timezones and time differences often changing; that's the main (huge) downside of this proposal.

But if we begin with sunrise at 0:00, where there is no sunrise, for the sun is up all night (above the polar circle), or, in the winter, never rises, there would be no time at all 🤯

But the sun rises at different times everywhere in the time zone, so you'd be abolishing time zones, which would be bad

I like this kind of thinking. But this breaks badly at northern latitudes. Also wreaks havoc on meeting scheduling with other time zones
