Happens all the time. The goal is 51%. Unless you live somewhere very homogeneous, that'll always include people you disagree with. Personally there are tons of positions effectively mandatory in SF that I don't agree with, but I'm glad that my "team" supports them anyway so we can win. It's a big tent.

Air traffic controllers need to strike and collapse the country or else things will get way worse in the long run. I don't like hurting things to make a point but sometimes short term pain is more important.

“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake” EAs could do things that make them a lot more relatable/effective at scale, but too much megalomania in the mix. political authoritarians could target vacuums of structure & capital as win-win, but their agendas are neverending, capricious, and opaque.

As a feminist, there are many cases like this. In politics in general, sometimes you have to resort to conflict to win. And sometimes, someone resorts to violence. I'm against violence, but e.g. The Korean girls insulting men on the Internet were kind of necessary, so I support them, and also because I have to support all feminists, we have to support all women, even if they're not perfect. But it goes against my values. I would have preferred not to support it. Same for allies: in France we had to gather against the far right, and the political result was very odd. Well, to sum up: political conflict creates this kind of situation all the time.
