Random Character Rounds x /yellow: Week 6 Character Prompt: Sunny is an artist who is still trying to find what they love to make. They are in their 20s, a little bit shorter than most of their friends, and always wears their square yellow glasses. Their clothing style is a bit…unique I guess you could say. Whenever they go somewhere, people are usually looking twice. Sunny has been experimenting with paintings and murals, sculptures from clay, stone, or found items, making short films and writing music. When they create their artwork, they get lost in the world within their head and even become part of the art, literally and figuratively. Sunny can change colors like a chameleon when they paint or transform into action figure while recording stop-motion movies or become a puppet when putting on a play. I’m thinking about bringing back my “museletter” format that I wrote several years ago. 1. What’s a museletter? Each week you share what you’ve been thinking about. It’s a simple roundup of some observations and notes from the past several days. There’s no pressure to synthesize or do much formatting before publishing. Ideally you’ve already done some “thinking in public” during the week and can simply reference yourself. 2. Why bring it back? I love the consistency that @firstdraftclub has given me (31 consecutive weeks of writing something in /firstdraft) but I don't feel like I'm developing my ideas as much as I'd like. FDC is merely a "minimum viable writing habit" (h/t @sonyasupposedly). I have tons of ideas that get stuck somewhere between a cast and a full post, and I want a forcing function to push them out into the world. A weekly museletter is the next level of commitment that can be a reliable habit.

Some thoughts off the top about Tucker's interview of Sam Bankman-Fried: 1) Tucker deliberately doesn't address SBF's business, in favor of other topics, which is fine, but it also allows SBF to reiterate talking points about them that don't really grapple with the steel-man argument against what he did. 2) SBF is lying about not taking Adderall. His defense lawyers actually asked the judge to delay trial until he could get it. 3) SBF provides an inside look at some of the genuine problems with our justice system, including the failure to provide inmates appropriate legal resources and ways to pursue meaningful pursuits, as well as the Feds' use of borderline extortive pressure tactics. 4) SBF is still an effective altruist. No rumination on how it might have helped him rationalize his alleged crimes. 5) Tucker, who tries to nudge SBF to care about things like family, comes off far more human of the two.
