Watching Donald Glover version of Mr and Mrs Smith. It’s a subtle metamodern sendup of the conventional assasins world set up by the Pitt/Jolie movie. I was wondering why a subversive guy like him seemed to be doing a conventional thing but he’s not.

I loved it. It nods just enough to the film while absolutely being a new thing. It’s a great example of saying something with the tropes rather than just being the tropes.

I've just started (2 eps in). I was a bit wary after the opening scene because of how on the nose it was. But they seem to have left that behind. And DG has tremendous presence. 🤞
