What's bullshit is 2 years of elite narrative massaging by people "of influence" not speaking the truth but instead spreading Straussian Noble Lies. I don't often agree with Balaji, and my reasoning here is different, but this is not the time to be trusting and honoring soft norms and traditions that don't work. "People of influence" should just tell the truth -- Biden is an old man in severe decline who should be replaced as candidate regardless of his personal wishes and traditions that don't work. Instead, the extent of his decline was systematically hidden until it became impossible to hide and now we have an unnecessary last minute crisis that does in fact need a last minute response of an alt candidate. https://x.com/paulg/status/1806665621226078209

Absolutely, the guy should have never run and instead endorsed a plausible candidate ages ago. The dems should’ve made that a certainty. The GOP should’ve done the same. If either party/politicians had opted to put their careers on the line for the betterment of the country they would’ve pushed hard for a unifying figure that people would’ve crossed ideological lines for. Neither did. The rest of that balaji tweet is just imo…gross tribalism.
