I don’t think this is that sort of culture clash. I think TSMC is more Morris Chang culture than Taiwan culture. Like Amazon is more Bezos culture than American.

we have a several friends at TSMC in hsinchu and it’s pretty similar culturally to other Taiwan companies but ramped up commitment at all costs scripts

People have this line of “but pay is better so you have to sacrifice more”.  But even regular companies highly regulate time off. It’s pretty intense.

Angie interviewed after grad school and they were concerned she wasn’t married yet.

Yes exactly. I think they’ve taken some of the work scripts and taken them to the extreme. Regular corporate culture is looser. 

But some of the benefit and pay at TSMC are very very good for Taiwan. Daycare at work, huge bonuses, company housing. So maybe Taiwan with American characteristic 😂
