I don’t think this is that sort of culture clash. I think TSMC is more Morris Chang culture than Taiwan culture. Like Amazon is more Bezos culture than American.

we have a several friends at TSMC in hsinchu and it’s pretty similar culturally to other Taiwan companies but ramped up commitment at all costs scripts People have this line of “but pay is better so you have to sacrifice more”. But even regular companies highly regulate time off. It’s pretty intense.
