Are memecoins good or bad? I think they sit somewhere in the triangle between buying pokemon cards and going to the casino and day trading. I don't personally don't do much of those things, but I understand the appeal and don't think we need to shame people who do it.

That said, be responsible, ethical and don't spend more than you can afford to lose.

btw not shaming memecoin traders mostly concerned with Ethereum‘s fee accrual coming from the memecoin industrial complex, more details: https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/how-can-we-steer-ethereum-away-from-exclusively-making-income-from-memecoin-trading/23276

I think NFTs sat between pokemon cards and day trading. Memecoins have almost no collector value. I'd argue they are almost exclusively speculative asset. I understand why people are building on them - more liquidity than nfts means more fees earned. But I think they are a net negative for onchain culture.

Not good or bad by nature. It has their utility and maybe now it's too hyped. We will find a sweet spot, such as taxis and cabify

I think people who know how to gamble and people who know how to trade memecoins have the ability to make their billions within a night. Ofcourse, their predictions are not always right and they lose too but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Same as you, I don’t do much of it but i know people who are crazy good at it.

I believe that over time meme coins as we know them today will evolve. I see companies rotating into meme as rewards or ways to communicate with a particular community to advertise their brand or upcoming products.

I think a lot of new things come off as stupid until they're not for context I'm a gamer and my whole life people have been telling me I'm wasting my time and I'm immature ... however, everything is becoming more and more gamified. Social spaces are now 3D worlds (Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft, VR). So I think a similar thing applies to memecoins. Worth studying and experimenting with

talking only about memecoins is a bad thing it gives crypto the gambling tag around it there should be mix of utility and fun . its not bad its a fun experiment but solely focusing on it isnt good for the industry

More akin to penny stocks than casino. Single players with large voices can dramatically affect outcomes.

bad, but inevitable best things to do imo are ignore them, trade them and reinvest money into "real" things, or try find a way to make them less bad

Memecoins have made crypto mainstream, but they've also ruined patience for real investments. Platforms like Pump fun have turned the market into a playground for insiders and influencers, leaving 99% of retail investors with losses. As memecoins flood the space, retail investors become hesitant to back genuine projects, risking the long-term growth of crypto. In the end, memecoins may bring short-term hype, but they’re damaging the ecosystem by burying good projects under a sea of speculation.
