Is there any good data on blockchain state growth? Want to understand how many megabytes or gigabytes per day are being added to full nodes in Eth, Solana etc.

I think this article captures state growth for ethereum: https://www.paradigm.xyz/2024/03/how-to-raise-the-gas-limit-1

o1 says : Ethereum Full Node Size (Ethereum Mainnet): Ethereum's state data grows primarily due to smart contracts, transactions, and accounts. As of mid-2024, a full archival node for Ethereum can be upwards of 12 TB, whereas a pruned full node (which stores only the necessary state data) is 900 GB - 1 TB. Daily Growth: On average, Ethereum adds around 0.5 to 1 GB per day to a full node. However, this varies depending on transaction activity and network usage. The historical growth is relatively steady but can spike with higher network activity, such as during airdrops or heavy DeFi activity. State Growth Concerns: Ethereum's state grows primarily because it retains data on every smart contract, which is often referred to as "state bloat." Ethereum is exploring different mechanisms, like state expiry or stateless clients, to manage this.

Normal GPT says: Solana State Growth: Solana’s high throughput (with tens of thousands of transactions per second) leads to rapid state growth. A Solana full node requires several terabytes of storage, with an approximate size of around 3-5 TB. State Growth Rate: Solana can add tens of gigabytes per day to its state, depending on network activity. The rapid growth is primarily due to its high transaction volume. Mitigation: Solana uses data sharding, compression, and a concept called “validator snapshots” to reduce the burden on full nodes.
