I don't think I would use a feature that selectively allows you to choose who can message you

"Following + recommended" and other batch-based tooling is fine for me

Aren’t all casts public by default? Wouldn’t this make it hard to implement a carrier pigeon client on top of the fc protocol? I guess you could just post encrypted blobs to the pubs, but that seems pretty high traffic for the problem at hand.
