Just arrived in Gary, Indiana for an 11 am quantum computing seminar. Thought I'd be late but discovered part of Indiana is on Central Time. Now I'm on my fourth coffee at the airport lounge with over an hour to kill. Can't stand waiting!

So the Aga Khan died today. I grew up Ismaili, although I’m not really practicing right now. Was not prepared for my sadness at his passing. I wouldn’t have guessed it, but my heart feels heavy. Growing up, I took it for granted that people like him would exist - philanthropists who sought to eliminate poverty. I know now he was a special. His money didn’t corrupt him. I know probably nobody wants to hear this right now, but it is pretty incredible that at least $2 billion was liquidated in 24 hours (bybit is reporting they think it might be closer to 8 to 10!) and yet defi didn’t break. No pegs were lost, and no protocols crumbled (afaik.) Defi on Ethereum is robust and battle-tested.
