A lot of gamers and game developers have always hated crypto (look at the reactions when some popular companies spoke about NFTs back in the day) and a lot of them hate AI.

There is a huge culture against it. Kind of surprised that they even extend it to free assets but also not surprised. They really hated NFT stuff and made game companies fully aware of it.

Some of the backlash was due to anti-crypto stuff like energy use and global warming (this was before ETH became PoS) but there was also this attitude because of how many micro transactions full priced games already had. Everyone was sick of it already back then and it's still prevalent today (just without cryptocurrency)
