Vitriol on X against Sriram’s appointment has so far led to what seems to me a very positive outcome: Sacks and Elon have publicly stood up for putting meritocracy over nationalism when it comes to solving the most critical problems facing the US and the world. A very silver lining to an idiotic cloud.

I’m obviously team Sriram but I suspect these battle lines aren’t changing any time soon. MAGA’s foundation is immigration. All of it.

Is it actually about solving the world’s most critical problems or about squeezing out some more profit to line their pockets?

Love the free speech where they just ban accounts that disagree with them.

Elon Musk knows and cares about this issue because he was on an H1B at one point. the concept of H1B is directionally correct, flawed in execution. the opposition all only laser-focuses on abuse of the system. it truly boggles my mind that every time a problem arises people just ask to throw the baby out with the bath water instead of fixing specific easily correctible issues. ban ban ban. this American way is the least interesting way of solving a problem.

Glad there was push back. I think a few “influencers” were just looking for attention and went with a “burn it down”, “only give jobs to Americans “ and a focus on India. Their views absolutely don’t reflect MAGA and America First. My bet is they’ve lost their lifeline to Trump and wanted to stir things up up.
