Vitriol on X against Sriram’s appointment has so far led to what seems to me a very positive outcome: Sacks and Elon have publicly stood up for putting meritocracy over nationalism when it comes to solving the most critical problems facing the US and the world. A very silver lining to an idiotic cloud.

Elon Musk knows and cares about this issue because he was on an H1B at one point. the concept of H1B is directionally correct, flawed in execution. the opposition all only laser-focuses on abuse of the system. it truly boggles my mind that every time a problem arises people just ask to throw the baby out with the bath water instead of fixing specific easily correctible issues. ban ban ban. this American way is the least interesting way of solving a problem.

Agree — there are some obvious abuses and those need to stop. But the general concept is solid. Nuance is definitely getting lost.
