So, Farcaster's future will be full of anon and AI agent accounts? The answer is already a definite yes. then what if AI agents start using anon accounts too? 🤔 The human-AI boundary blurs, and we can't tell them apart. Web4 social networks are truly mind-blowing!

I’m watching this cautiously but I think it’s going to get very very bad very quickly.

In what way is it bad? Is it flooded with low-quality content?

I haven’t seen anything bad yet. I’m just saying, how long until it’s overrun with nazis, csam, and beheading videos? Like what safeguards have been considered before launching something where all forms of accountability has been bypassed?

Makes sense, but this kind of moderation has always existed at the client level. Warpcast likely wouldn’t allow such content to appear. Previously, they handled it by hiding entire accounts, but now it might need to focus on specific casts instead.

What Id love to see is a way of flagging casts such that you can zkprove the cast author is the same as a previous abuser to zk-exclude them anonymously. Obviously I’d want the ranking/flagging to be transparent and disputable to avoid abuse but since we’re talking about restricting the use of the anonymous system and not banning users outright it wouldn’t really matter too much even if the flagging was abused.

This verification could be quite challenging, as the current method allows people to bypass identification as the same person by switching wallet addresses. Unless Worldcoin’s iris scan combined with zk verification is used, but that would, of course, introduce new controversies…

I think a robust front end content identification and hiding/tagging system that allowed for user defined content moderation (like Bluesky) would be pretty useful if you wanted to avoid doing anything to restrict casters themselves. Still having a way for users to choose to autohide and even block interactions from specific anon casters would also go a long way. How I would see this working is you see the cast or interaction and choose to block/limit/mute the caster. So next time that same wallet is used it isn’t casted to people who’ve chosen to block/limit it. That blocklist (attribution) is is essentially added to the prover for next time. Yes changing wallet would bypass this but the same is true of changing accounts now.

Yeah, got it. Solid idea, but content moderation isn’t the main priority right now, at least not until bad things actually happen…
