The characters in crypto are depressing, thiel, Armstrong, nic Carter, WTF happened. And I hate that it's daddy trump that gives us regulations finally.
But I guess the bad characters get all the PR. ie BTC Maxis back in the day.
I believe in open source like I did with Linux.

I agree in spirit but I disagree overall. I believe that “use by” is not the same capture as “ownership of” 

Within such an open system as ethereum, what we need to worry more about is surveillance and plutocracy. We need to harden the systems to prevent capture at the protocol levels and prevent surveillance everywhere.

Socially, it would also be valuable for us to push against the memecoin meta. And again, importantly against plutocratic governance models.

They used it so it will lose it's power, not necessarily push us away. Once the government makes it normal it's basically over as a tool of revolution. Unfortunately, those people aren't cringe to everyone. 🥲

Good metaphor. I think, similarly, a lens might be appropriate. You see what you want. It enables what you want it to. The thing I most want the left to know about crypto is its like the internet. In the early days it was hypercapitalist, overhyped, and seemingly useless. And even now there is a huge right wing presence on it. But that should not push us away from using the internet. Nor crypto.

Crypto is a mirror. Leftists see in it alternative money systems. The worst people on earth, which happen to be currently running the show, see the possibility of doing crime at a new order of magnitude.

I have been surprised in this space just how left leaning everyone is. Then I start to think about it and realise there's a learning curve to it, and the right typically hate learning things.

I disagree with that assessment of Milei, and am not in favour of anarcho capitalism if such a thing can even be said to exist. 

But moreover, I was pointing out the perception of Milei (as just one example). Right wing libertarianism and the strange authoritarian bedfellows they make are exactly the people who push the left out of crypto.

Why do you say Milei is disgusting?

Seems like his world view is most aligned the crypto's anarcho-capitalist roots.

They really didn't need to help it along if you ask me. Crypto was, and is, mostly populated by the most vile people on earth. It reminds me of that Robert Downey Jr clip of him disgusted by Wall St people
