Crypto is a mirror. Leftists see in it alternative money systems. The worst people on earth, which happen to be currently running the show, see the possibility of doing crime at a new order of magnitude.

Good metaphor. I think, similarly, a lens might be appropriate. You see what you want. It enables what you want it to. The thing I most want the left to know about crypto is its like the internet. In the early days it was hypercapitalist, overhyped, and seemingly useless. And even now there is a huge right wing presence on it. But that should not push us away from using the internet. Nor crypto.
