Every time I see someone make fun of ADHD and suggest it's fake, or a conspiracy by Big Pharma to sell medication, I get mad all over again. This thing is very real and the people who suffer from it wouldn't wish on their worst enemies.

I always wanted to know if I had adhd, it seems like I have some “symptoms” but I am also paranoid of self-diagnosing (I think false positives more likely than false negatives esp with self diagnosis?)

Maybe I'll make a thread about this. But the truth is that the only way to know if you have ADHD is to go for an actual diagnosis. If you get prescribed meds and/or implement other interventions and notice changes, that's evidence something was wrong previously.

In my opinion it's more important if you thinking you may have adhd leads to you finding skills that help you live your life more smoothly. If you do go for a diagnosis and learn that you don't have it then big shrug. You still learned how to manage things you have been struggling with. That said. I will also point out that the rate of self diagnosis being false is fairly low. Dig into it. Do some research and see what resonates with you. I know there are some valid online tests out there that can start to point you in the right direction too.

I think the world we live in heightens a lot of the symptoms, and you’ll need to have 5-6 reoccurring symptoms. I don’t know too much about ADHD but here’s a vid that helped shed some light on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBonqCwyjRA
