Anyone who’s dealt with ADHD long enough: has it ever gotten easier?

I feel like since becoming aware of the symptoms the struggle has only worsened, despite always considering myself decently self-aware.

I don’t know if it’s just the compounding responsibilities of work, marriage, parenthood, and adulthood. Or if it’s some weird permanent brain fog from covid. Or a tangible side effect of being plugged into crypto almost 24/7 for three years. Or just a dwindling sense of agency and direction and control of emotions.

But it’s been six years now that I’ve seen three therapists, one psychiatrist with a brief round of antidepressants, and tried numerous tools and tricks yet it all feels like it’s falling apart.

Where did I go wrong?

Every time I see someone make fun of ADHD and suggest it's fake, or a conspiracy by Big Pharma to sell medication, I get mad all over again. This thing is very real and the people who suffer from it wouldn't wish on their worst enemies.

This... I have ADHD in addition to autism and they both make my life so difficult ugh

Maybe I'll make a thread about this. But the truth is that the only way to know if you have ADHD is to go for an actual diagnosis. If you get prescribed meds and/or implement other interventions and notice changes, that's evidence something was wrong previously.

I always wanted to know if I had adhd, it seems like I have some “symptoms” but I am also paranoid of self-diagnosing (I think false positives more likely than false negatives esp with self diagnosis?)
