I claimed a bunch of Moxie token over the past few days – this appears to have accumulated organically as a result of my casts and interactions. I cannot tell what the mechanism is by which this occurs but it seems to be that when certain people respond to you it generates a lot of Moxie, whereas others do not. So you may have a trending and popular post but if the more powerful accounts don't engage with it there is not much Moxie generated. I think it would be more democratic and come closer to achieving organic economic viability if the mechanism were more based on engagement agnostically rather than favoring certain accounts. At least the favoritism should not be so wildly disproportionate and can allow for posts enjoyed by lowbies to generate rewards rather than building around a few power users.

It seems to work in a similar way that the power badges were granted/kept before: you are given Moxie from incoming interactions and the higher ranked that person is, the more Moxie you get. A reply from DWR gets your post $50 worth of Moxie, for instance (and would have helped you get a power badge before). So yeah, sets up a situation where people are clamoring from attention from the already popular and not so much conversations between each other or growing their network. It’s hard to figure out how to “fix” that.

I think it's already starting to "fix" itself as people get more discerning with who they reply to. It's not going to be enough to just reply, it's going to have to be a reply that continues the discussion or it'll just get ignored.

The problem is that with big accounts, you are often ignored no matter how “good” your replies are. They get so many notifications every day that they can’t keep up. They probably just have notifications turned on for their friends and use that tab to catch up and don’t bother with the rest. I rarely leave replies that aren’t genuinely trying to enhance conversation but with most big accounts they are completely ignored because they never even see them which is a waste of my time and frustrating. So if Airstack could change the reward algo for Moxie so that real conversations happening between less popular people were worth something, that would be better for the network than giving the bulk to the few replies influencers paid attention to in huge threads that are mostly people yelling into a void because influencers can’t/won’t respond.
