resisted being *that* person but woke up and chose violence: FC is so male coded that a) it can get tired, and b) i still spend significant time on insta + twitter for chick stuff instead of FC yes, the men here are infinitely better than the men on twitter BUT the dynamic will remain a challenge. /chicks channel plz

also, for the record, i have always identified more strongly w/ masculine energy than w/ feminine energy (cc @minh dine + define). i'm usually the LAST person to point to gender as a reason or excuse for situations. if i am casting this, then i have seriously reflected on this challenge and deem it worthy of sharing.

Heres an action item that everyone can do: Invite at least 1 woman to farcaster. Your friend, wife, mom, whatever. Introduce them and encourage them to start posting and being their authentic selves 🤷🏻 Small changes can be big changes if we do it all together 🤗

generally speaking, crypto/web3 is extremely male dominant i could see a /femme channel on here making some waves, less gendered more expression-centric, but a clear place to go for newcomers trying to find friends

I don't think there is a single person that disagrees. What's the solution? Is it chicks channel? Separate client? Is it just a bunch of smaller details? Is it just content? Curious what things come to mind for you as a deterrent or what things could improve this?

I get why we tend to think the solution to this kind of problem is to create a separate environment for females but we’re never going to get what we actually want if we keep segregating.

Surprised you haven’t played with Threads. Curious your take on it. Twitter feels very male to me.

How much of this problem is due to the audience and how much is due to the content type? I know both are interrelated, so hard to answer, but I’m wondering if platform limitations might also be a hurdle?

I’ve had some time to let all the discussion marinate and I’m ready to advocate for our channel. But not a fan of the word chicks. Anyone wanna jump into a chat and brainstorm ideas for our channel name? Within 7 days there will be a channel for us. ❤️‍🔥

I agree, although most of the gals web3/onchain content and chats I find (either Twitter, discord, or insta) are all boss babe, yas queen, you are enough vibes and it really icks me. The MLM to crypto pipeline seems stronger for women, and I just don't resonate with (most) of that

I’ve started using fc more & I haven’t noticed the disparity but I see no harm in having a /femmes channel of some sort to find other women

What’s a good example of (1) content that is more for chicks that you need to get outside FC and (2) ways that you feel like you need to alter your behavior here bc the audience is mostly guys? (I ask this out of genuine interest, not skepticism. I know you know this but want to clarify for other readers as well)

I think this is good product feedback. Do you think the channel being publicly accessible will have undesirable effects?

content-wise, what kinds of non-male-coded things are you finding on insta + twitter that could be added here?

Do you think a /chicks channel will turn into r/twoxchromosomes where women just complain about men 😅? It's not all the time but it is 95% of the time; I stopped accessing it [even before dropping reddit]

Forgive me if this is the wrong approach, but I wonder if we could build a woman centric client on top of Farcaster. Like a sufficiently decentralized Bumble.
