Meta's VP/Chief AI Scientist said last year that better models will come from better architecture, not scale. DeepSeek chose architectural innovation. The founder of DeepSeek, when asked why he chose to innovate on structure instead of following Llama's established framework said, "If the goal is applications, following Llama's structure to fast deployment makes sense. But our destination is AGI..."

I’m not an engineer but in the past month I’ve… - curated email summaries from Twitter lists - built a telegram app - built a rough prototype of a content/knowledge base app - a web scraper All with the help of curiosity, prompting, ChatGPT, Claude, Bolt and Cursor

"write better code" vs prompt engineering with Claude 3.5 Sonnet Both work but take you on different journeys. Maybe there is some kind of natural ceiling for optimization that LLMs can achieve, regardless of prompting strategy. https://minimaxir.com/2025/01/write-better-code/

In the 80s, kids dreamed of being astronauts. Today, they dream of being content creators. But many successful creators want to quit because we've turned storytelling into ad space, and art into analytics This video is art https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VM1ATv1vg4

I heard on a podcast that one of the tells of ChatGPT is the use of 'Certainly!' and with Claude the tell is "Ah". Adding to the Claude list: 'It's not about X, it's about Y' 'It's more than X, it's about Y' and other variations of this. Highly recommend adding instructions to your prompts to avoid it if you do a lot of content writing with AI.

Yesterday, my grandma’s time left on earth was estimated between hours and days. My grandpa would tell her “you’re so gorgeous, I love you, are you comfortable? You’re so beautiful, my darling.” There was a lot of life lived behind those words. Those moments swept over me out of nowhere tonight as I rocked my youngest daughter to sleep. After she went to asleep, I went to grab my phone to ask my mom for an update. She had passed.

Objectives killed search quality the same way they kill innovation: by forcing everything to justify its existence through predetermined metrics. We optimized from 'help people find what they need' to 'help content find people’

Companies are finding out the moat isn't in having petabytes of data. It's in having the right data. When it comes to training advanced AI, they're actually data-poor. As a result, there's been a big shift towards small data, small models and synthetic data.

Got an incident report from daycare that my 19 month old was bit by a “friend” then picked her up and told she has “watery eyes” (looks like double pink eye) and the worst part is…we pay for this! 😂

Do you ever get sparks on old aspirations? My first job out of college was at an advertising agency in nyc. I was obsessed with advertising — the Dunkin Super Bowl commercial was a spark for me. Still thinking about it and smiling at different parts. They don’t make ‘em like they used to :)
