okay women and men, please weigh in on this video in the comments below: - do men know about “are we dating the same guy” private FB groups and does it freak them out like it freaks me out - is this protected free speech or defamation - when does something done with good intentions swing too far the other way

Concept sounds vaguely familiar. Think they could be useful, but man they seemed to go overboard Also + 702 $DEGEN for using perplexity!

Impossible to know but would love to know what’s the % of false positives in these groups. But toxic from women to assume your guy is cheating and do it publicly for sure I’m surprised these groups aren’t anonymous. Although anon networks tend to fade, that would obviously solve the defamation problem

truth is an absolute defense to defamation (that's a serious answer, not sure if you're asking seriously lol)

Men know, some have sued. Prima facie case for defamation because the reqs to speak on private individuals is high + a FB group is a publication. It is 100% not ok. It is the lowest form of feminine energy that would engage in this, which draws serious negative karma that will take her everything to resolve.

no offense but your setup of wanting to enrage the tl with a gender culture war issue is getting old (at least for me), I just scroll past to save myself the trouble

First of all, you are VERY good at this. Second, I believe that if it's true, then it is not defamation. It would need to be proven that it is true. NAL.

This dude is psycho and has a pattern of frivolous lawsuits. I haven’t been in groups like this but my impression is that they’re for reporting bad behavior so women can protect themselves. Most women I know have unfortunately had experiences of men trying to deceive or hurt them in some way when dating.

- now that I know there's such a thing, it only vindicates my disinterest - generally I err on the side of free speech. maybe a lawyer can weigh in wrt defamation (or even tortious interference) - I'm not seeing good intentions here. *public* sunlight is the best medicine.

first time hearing about these groups, and definitely more defamation than "free speech"

This is sad and socially corrosive. Just because it’s more readily available than other courses, conjuring up fb lynch mobs under the pretense of protecting someone is not ok. There’s established pathways to protect others for a reason.

I think they’ve evolved into not only dating the same guy but have you dated this guy before and what can you tell me about him. I’ve asked some friends if they’ve ever seen anything about me in them. The girls are allowed to talk but the opportunity for an “abuse of power” is definitely there.
