not sure how to say this, but how have dogs been at the top of the leaderboard (multiple times) and i’ve never once seen a nigerian caster break the top 10 despite having a lot of content and a lot of engagement? can someone make it make sense? gonna recast @afrochicks post in the thread below because it was on point 👇

We had a meeting with Ted yesterday. Things we spoke about - New accounts being classified as bots/spam accounts - How tough it is climbing up the leaderboard I believe they are working on all the issues we raised. But on our end, we're tired.

More than half of the Nigerian percentage on farcaster has been thrown into spam, reasons unknown to nobody. I didn’t have the spam label until one hour ago, my activity over the last 24hrs doesn’t look spammy to me

Thank you for bringing this up, but they will act as though this cast was not seen, they would really love it to die down. This has become an issue and i’ve noticed accounts that actually get on the leaderboard get nerfed, why is this? Because they’re not the ones who engaged it so it’s spammy @farcasthoe was topping the leaderboard then all of a sudden V drops a screenshot that the replies are spammy, now let’s say okay they look spammy, but if you read the goddamn cast he took that screenshot from, maybe to them it doesn’t mean anything, but when nigerians say things like “sharp” “facts” etc it’s a whole lot more than that. Everyone on that screenshot got spammed, i mean most Nigerians on here are currently in spam by the numbers, maybe i will be in spam soon and of course some have just left, the ones that have been here a while are just hanging on, i won’t lie most people in top 30 have no real content, they just got engagement from certain people

I've also noticed that Nigerians who end up in the top 10 at the beginning of the week, don't make it through to the end. It is well.

do you have some specific nigerians in mind that have great content? it is worth noting that many people w/ good to great content don't sniff the top 30. It's really hard to get that high and is usually heavily made up of about 20-25 people.

It feels like Nigerians who make it to the top 10 at the start of the week often end up getting frozen for no clear reason. More than 80% of the Nigerians I've met on Warpcast, myself included have been labeled as spam without any explanation, even though we didn’t break any rules. Honestly, it feels like we’re being made the scapegoats whenever something goes wrong in this space.

is warpcast made for all or just for a few specific people is the question here, i made a complaints about the same thing and guess what? i found myself in spam the next morning—complained to a few of my the friends i’ve made here including @afrochicks who said she’ll try her best to get help (which i very much appreciate) but it’s honestly getting out of hand and it’s annoying

I would love to see non-western world folks casting more about their lives! That’s why I love following @ifeoluwafavour and @trizsamae Their cultures are something I’ll probably never experience in person, but I get to broaden my world view, and make friends who have different lived experiences. I’d challenge all the not US, CA, UK folks to cast only original content for a week and see how it goes! Let people find out how they relate to you, don’t try to be relatable. Jump in on a meta or trending mini app, but mostly focus on telling your story, daily life, projects you’re working on, what family time looks like for you, what do you do for fun, what are your favorite local foods. And all of that isn’t to say that there aren’t great accounts out there already doing this, I just haven’t found them yet. OR that the Rewards algo doesn’t need to be updated, which I think should be done frequently. Also, would love suggestions for new friends I should be following!

Yea I think this is not a particularly transparent system and I think we just need to enjoy the ride and not think about it. I have given up climbing anywhere worth anything and just post what I think makes sense or share art i like. Because that’s why I am here. But I know I am in the minority. Thanks for highlighting the ‘onboard the world on-chain ‘ we do tend to live in a bubble and forget.
