Whatever we become in life is mostly as a result of the circumstances life has thrown at us but we are often judged by the choices we have taken Little known problem is that your choice in every situation is already predetermined most of the time by your past circumstances, judge people less, understand them more!

Are we the products of our own choices or are we the product's of life's choices for us? The things that really matter (country, iq, parents) are out of our control before birth, the things in our control (personality, beliefs, values) get influenced greatly right from birth until we can influence them as adults. Are you who you want to be or are you who you've been influenced to be? Yes, we still can change those things in our control but it is easier to finish a painting you started.

@ted I used to always believe that peer pressure and being in the wrong environments could not influence you if you are disciplined and set your priorities straight but I have changed this belief because of my experiences in the past year. I usually indulge alcohol often but hadn't smoked at all since the day I drew my first breaths on this fine mass we call earth. Seeing as alcohol was in a bottle but most things we smoke come in powdered forms, I felt safer easing my mood through alcohol than with a drug that may have arbitrary and potentially harmful mixtures that I can't vouch for completely. Everything changed last year when I started hanging out with people who smoke regularly. I picked up smoking fairly easily and quickly before I even noticed. Moving forward I understand the psychology behind peer pressure better and I would try not to put myself in environments that test my discipline, as the most common result when faced with peer and environmental pressure as humans is to conform to the norm.

Do not live in the past but viewing your life from the lens of the past can offer solace and calm. Have you missed your way somewhere and found your closest friend on that path, did you run late on an event but miss an accident you would have been involved in, did you miss an email that could have changed your life for the better?. Life mostly makes sense when you look at it from the past to present, looking from the present to the future always looks fuzzy and chaotic. Do your best in the present, the future will handle itself!

As a football lover, I use aspects of the game to analyze life as well, some football teams set up with an attacking approach while others set up with a defensive approach. Teams with an attacking approach can leave themselves vulnerable to conceeding goals but with a higher potential to score more goals and win the match, teams with a defensive approach may not attack enough and thereby rely on alot of luck and not conceeding to win or draw a match. In life, if you take alot of risks and try out alot of things(attack) your chances of winning big are significantly higher but you also leave yourself open to taking risks that may hurt you, if you don't take alot of risks or try out new things alot(defense), your chances of winning big in life are significantly lower but you don't open yourself to too much risks that can hurt you. which approach is bettter to take towards life, which have you chosen?
