5. Pyrenean ibex. This goat-like animal went extinct in 2000. Three years later, a biotech company (Advanced Cell Tech.) cloned this animal, and one of the clones was born alive but died several minutes later. So, this animal was the first example of cloning an extinct species, although it went extinct twice.

1. Wolly Mammoth because if we could bring them back, it would indicate significant advancements in scientific capability. Two other options would be the Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) and the Sabre-toothed Cat (Smilodon)
