what i'm learning from convos like this is that most people (in the US) only know the wall-street-turned-crypto-bro narrative, which is rather unfortunate

the conversation started partly because a friend told me she read an article in Vanity Fair about how bitcoin was supposed to democratize finance and money, which she didn't realize.

the crypto bro/numbers go up narrative was unfortunately very strong back in 2021
